Description
It doesn’t get much fresher or more local than this! Almost all the vegetables and as much of the fruit as possible in this healthy box are grown on the Green Connect farm in Warrawong (next to Port Kembla in Wollongong) and picked less than 24 hours before the boxes are sent out on Thursdays.
We top the boxes up with organic potatoes and onions from other producers because they don’t grow well in our microclimate, and also organic fruit while waiting for our trees to bear enough fruit for all our customers.
We follow permaculture and organic principles so there are no pesticides or other nasty chemicals. We are not (yet) certified organic producers but are the closest thing to it. They call it “chemical free” or uncertified organic.
We employ former refugees and young people on our little piece of paradise, and regularly offer our customers the chance to come and meet the team and see where and how our food is grown.
Each week we put a variety of fruit and vegetables in your box, which will change according to what is in season. You can exclude up to three things and we’ll put something else in their place (e.g. if you don’t like lettuce or you grow your own, we will leave that out and replace it with something else on the weeks we’re putting lettuce in the box).
The box contains a similar quantity of fruit and vegetables to what is shown in the photo above, which was taken at our farm.
You can pause your box or cancel at any time, either by logging in and managing your subscription online, by calling us on (02) 4243 1537, or by emailing fairfood@green-connect.com.au.
We love questions, feedback and ideas so don’t hesitate to get in touch!
